The Government ICT Officers' Forum has demanded the creation of a separate ICT cadre to properly carry out their responsibilities. Not as technicians, rather they like to be treated as technical hands. The organization believes that through the formation of this cadre, dynamism and transparency will be brought by eliminating the corruption and incompetence of various ICT projects like Bangladesh Bank. They think that the large number of CSE graduates who are coming out every year in the country will be able to properly evaluate their talent through this cadre.

Md. Tamiz Uddin Ahmed, President of the organization, presented this argument at a press conference held on the rooftop of BTMC building in Kawran Bazar of the capital on Friday evening.

In response to the questions of the journalists, he said that the opportunity to implement this work was created four years ago, but it was not implemented.

Secretary General of the organization and National Revenue Department system analyst Mohammad Ahsan Habib Suman presented a written statement at the press conference.

Former president of the organization Akter Hossain, vice president Monir Hossain and Raihanul Islam, joint secretary Zakir Hossain, treasurer Zikre Amin and others were present that time.

In response to the question why cadres are needed, Tamiz Uddin Ahmed said, due to lack of structural reforms in the ICT sector, on the one hand, talented people of the country are going abroad, as a result of which talent is being trafficked. On the other hand, the prevalence of foreign consultants and foreign-based technology is increasing in the country. Those who are working for the country from the ICT sector are also getting frustrated day by day and their work efficiency is decreasing due to lack of career paths and inter-ministerial transfers along with expected job promotions. Creation of ICT cadre is the need of the time to prevent the talent trafficking, creation of jobs for talented people to give opportunity to work for the welfare of the country, innovation of new technology and popularization of indigenous technology, increase in revenue collection, cyber space security etc.

In response to another question, it was said in the press conference that there was no freedom of speech before. But now there is freedom of speech in this country, achieved through the sacrifice of brave students and the mass uprising of the students. As a result, the planned obstructionists in ICT cadre-creation will be unmasked to the nation.

The speakers said that the government has undertaken structural reforms in various sectors with the determination to build a new country through the mass uprising of the students, the creation of ICT cadre can be one of the integral parts of the state reforms of 2024. In this case all the ICT officers recommended by Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) along with creation of ICT cadre should be included in the proposed ICT cadre.

Speakers at the press conference sought the intervention of the Chief Adviser to speed up the creation of ICT cadre and the inclusion of all ICT officers recommended by the Bangladesh Public Works Commission (BPSC) in the proposed ICT cadre.
